Repellent chemicals offer good defense against termites because they are easily detected and strongly avoided by them. Unfortunately, when there is a break in the chemical application, either from being unable to access all areas, or if a treated area is later compromised, white ants can identify these gaps and gain entry.

The widely used repellent is Bifenthrinthat has a lasting effect of up to five years after application.

Non-Repellent Chemicals

Termites cannot detect these repellents. Consequently, they do not avoid the treated areas, and as a result die after they have contact with them. In addition, individual termites will transfer the chemical to other colony members, causing a compounding effect.
