The most commonly used repellent is Bifenthrin, which features a residual life of up to 5 years following application.

Non-Repelling Chemicals

Repellent chemicals are not detectable by the termites. Given they don’t avoid the treated areas, they go through the chemical and die as a result of coming into contact with it. They often also transfer the chemical on to other colony members that they come into contact with, thus creating a compounding result.

Because termites can’t tell apart treated places to non-treated places, the possibility for termite access through non-treated gaps is much lower.

The most common non repellent chemical is Fipronil, which has a residual life of as much as eight years.
